Palmira Puppy Program

Raising our Healing Puppies –

Palmira Healing Puppies pride ourselves on our focus to health and temperament, in all the puppies bred through our program. Purposeful selection of our parents, care during the pregnancy and continuing after puppies are born enhances growth and development.

Puppy work starts from a few days old. Raised in our family home, they are exposed to household activities from day one. Positioned where they can safely watch and hear all the commotion. Interact with the other dogs when appropriate and learn how to settle for quiet time with distraction.

Puppy Program

Exposure, from 3 days old, to Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS) and Early Scent Introduction (ESI).  Building resilience to minor stressors in a controlled manner.

Graduating at 3 weeks old to desensitisation of sounds; vacuum cleaner; fireworks; storms; washing machine; hair dryer.  Exposure to sounds assists to develop a confident, well-rounded temperament, building capacity to manage varying stressors as an adult. When puppies are old enough to venture outside of their puppy enclosure, they are exposed to other animals, people and environments.

Exploring new environments is vital and builds on desensitisation. Puppies acclimatise to a greater expanse of space around them, play in a different environment, on different surfaces. Slowly progressing to outside toileting and then walks outside of the day yard.

Acknowledging and responding to the voice. Learning recall and following a person, being exposed to simple commands as they learn basic manners.

Between 5-7 weeks old they are taken through the obstacle challenge course, exposing them to problem solving and different surfaces, again building their confidence and ability to accept new stimuli.

Human connection is promoted from day one, encouraging all puppies to learn how to interact with their human effectively. As well as learning to be intuitive and seek companionship for all types of roles they may have in the future.

Growing Puppies

The excitement of getting puppy updates and watching your puppy grow, is consuming. I know!! I work towards giving regular updates to each puppy owner.

Puppy Zoom meetings can take place; however, this does not work for everyone. I will be trialling Instagram messaging with future litters. Which will allow all owners to see them at different times of the day doing puppy activities. And more often.

Three zoom puppy classes will be offered to all new puppy owners to assist them in their bonding and communicating with their new puppy.

Getting Ready for New Homes

Personality testing takes place with all puppies. Along with the responses to ENS and ESI we can create the perfect match between puppy and family.

Puppies are wormed every 2 weeks, vaccinated and microchipped at 7/8 weeks.

Leaving for their new homes when they are 8 weeks and 4 days old. The extra time creates a significant difference to minimising separation anxiety as an adult.

Transport

Puppy transport is offered from the 2025 litter, at a very reasonable cost. Upgrading our bus to accommodate crates will allow the puppies to remain with some level of familiarity while travelling to their new homes.  For any puppies staying with us for training, they will also be along for the ride and will be able to meet their new families as well.

We can assist new owners who would like to organise alternative transport.

All puppy updates available on our Facebook page.

Puppy Open Days are held when we have a litter of 7 week old puppies. Alternatively, our older dogs can be met by prior arrangement.

Our next Palmira Litter is expected early 2026. Expecting Chocolate and Yellow, possibly black

Puppy Personality Testing - Palmira Puppy Program

Completing an Owner Questionnaire shares information to allow Personality Matching to take place. Your answers give an indication of the type of puppy best suited to the family he/she is going to.

Understanding the knowledge and experience level of new owners will ensure the correct match occurs.

ENS and ESI are the first indicators of personality as well as the observation through 8 personality tests.  The result gives a score revealing puppy personality, on a scale of; Outgoing; Compliant; Shy.

Allowing us to match owners with their best fit puppy. The purpose of the testing ensures inexperienced owners or those with very small children don’t end up with a boisterous, high energy dog.
